SCHOOL = 365 DAYS
Just got back from picking up all my work for my AP classes. I got Huck Finn, a fat 600 page Physics textbook, and a fat 600 page AP USH textbook. I don't know what I'm getting myself into. On top of that I got to study for SAT's. I'm still listening to see if God wants me to drop a class. If He does, AP Eng. is the first, then AP Physics, then AP USH. I wish my counselor allowed me to take it at DVC. My friend says it's easy for him over there. DARN MY STUPID SCHOOL!
POST-WORK INSPIRATION
Now, all the slideshows are over. I got 2 tasks complete, a few more left. The cooler weather helps too.
Today I was watching Rebecca St. James after fair. Despite the typical loudness of it, she was good. She's not one of those singers who sings and leaves and doesn't give a care as long as the audience is happy. She talked and inspired us with some stories and verses. Even said a prayer at the end. Compared to Plus One last year, it was much better.
For especially Christian concerts, I can't help but notice how secular the concert tries to be. Plus One last year was outrageous. Not only was the music excessively louder than before, but the group dressed crazy in ripped jeans and shirts and one guy had a mohawk. Rebecca St. James was better. Nothing crazy, she really let us know her intention was to glorify God.
With all Christian music, I wonder, how can you get non-Christians to hear the music and be inspired by the message and lyrics without conforming? You do want to glorify God and let others know of His love, and yet you are commanded to be "of the world, but not in the world". Where do you draw the line?

THE WEEKEND
Whew, it's finally beginning to cool down a bit. And I finally got more than 6 hours of sleep. This DVBS stuff has really worn me out. I still got to work though, 5 more days. Today was a relief for me though. One is that I went to work at 10:30 (didn't have to run out the door), another is that I saw Nicole sing @ fair, another is that I got off early to go to a church grad banquet, and lastly tomorrow my family is coming to the fair.
I was going to get to my philisophical note thingy, but I'm going to be up all nite doing the DVBS slideshow. My mom and bro aren't happy that I couldn't get many pictures of them.
“I can only please one person at a time. Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn’t look good either!”

HOPE FOR THE WEARY
Well, fair was...hot...again. I read that frisco hit 97 which is like 7 degrees higher than their record. They must've been dying. No one is frisco has AC, they don't need it...most of the time.
I left fair discouraged again. No sunglasses. I've got 6 days left to pray and hope for a miracle, then face the music. But as I left the Lost and Found, I was encouraged, which brings me to my philisophical note.
As I was walking out of red gate, I noticed one of the staff, a young man who watches people walk out the gate, was reading a Bible. And he looked...well....busy reading it. Though I didn't talk to him or say AMEN BROTHER, I found it encouraging. The fair can be an evil place. We've got staff members that curse a lot, drink, smoke, live in East Oakland (well, maybe that's not always bad), but I found it encouraging how that staff member was able to bring a big (medium sized) Bible and read it in front of everyone. In contrast to my previous note on how much of the world is evil, this gave me some hope.
Now, I will eat alone and live alone for the next 3 hours while the rest of my brood is off partying.

THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK
jonathan wong
awwwwwwww, isn't he the cutest thing? he's going to be my new best friend in a few years. well, he already is, even though i haven't met him in person yet, so yeah.
CURSE OF THE EYES
What is God trying to tell me? I lose my sunglasses at the fair two days ago, and tonight my contact lens falls out in the pool. All this in one week!
HEAT WAVE
Whheeeewww, it was HOT yesterday. Heard today's going to be much worse. Just my luck that I'm working. Outside. In the sun. For 8 hours. fun fun fun.

HONESTY IS OUR BUSINESS
Today was soooo boring. Had to set up for the Business Social. I knew about it, but I think we did more than we should've. We started by decorating the Palm Pavillion with stuff. That wasn't too bad, except our supervisor (the one whose work we do when she slacks off) kept on tearing down the decorations that took us an hour to put up. Then we went out in the hot sun to set up the staff tent. all the ambassadors there were still sore (emotionally) from decorating, so we were all in a bad mood. Luckily, Andrew, the video guy, saved me, so i did video for the next hour. it was cool bc i'll be in the fair video doing a little "news" segment. If you live in the Tri-Valley, it's on local TV, and if not, well, oh well. Maybe i'll get Jeff to put a stream on the website. But neways, after that hour, it was back to the Palm Pavillion to work more. We stood outside for the next hour passing out Hawaiian leis and greeting business people. incredibly boring, incredibly tiring. i managed to get off for 1/2 lunch/dinner, then back to work. our supervisor made us stand the whole time for the next 3 hours. no one came so it was incredibly boring. Finally, we could clean up and leave, and leave I did. quickly.
it stinks so bad because at one point when i was doing video, i dropped my sunglasses, and they're now lost. i don't know where the heck they are, so i'm not in a great mood. i'm hoping that they were turned into lost and found, but that might not be the point. Possibly some selfish, dishonest person picked it up and took it home, never to be seen again. I'm praying real hard that it didn't happen, but I learned a lesson nevertheless (my philisophical note of the day): The world as a whole is dishonest and selfish. You will find very few ppl that are truly right in their hearts. Our job as Christians is to praise the honest ppl and influence the dishonest ones. I am desperately hoping those sunglasses fell into the hands of one of those rare honest ppl. I believe God can work out a miracle. He's done it before.

Can't think of much to talk about. Work was okay. Long and boring as usual, but it went okay. I was reading some of my friends' blogs. One is attending summer school at Harvard and is able to update his blog from Boston. lucky him. i won't be updating my blog when i'm in Boston, that's for sure. not unless San Disk miraculously releases a WiFi SD card in the next week and I can steal WiFi from some cafe. You know, cruise ships cost money to operate internet too, so it won't happen. I guess I can talk about my philisophical thought of the day.
Today, i received a letter from the school saying that i have to study 3 chapters and do like 50 problems for AP phys. this summer. On top of that, I got to read Huck Finn for AP Eng. Soon, i'll get an assignment for AP USH. My mom is sort've getting uncomfortable with it, and believe it or not, I agree with her. I've got two thoughts in my mind. One is that I should push myself, that it's important, and that I should do it. Schools are way too competitive these days. It's hard to get into Berkeley with a 4.0 now. Ivy leagues probably cut off at 4.11. I feel that to reach a level that I feel i need to be, i need to push myself more than i possibly can handle. There are like 4 ppl in my class taking the same AP's. One is taking 4 AP's and 2 honors classes. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others, but it seems that's how it will be later. survival of the fittest. My other thought is that i'm really pushing it, that 3 AP classes are way too much. It sure seems like a lot, and i may have a lot of stress. my mom says some ppl she talked to regretted working so hard. some ppl even said it affected their walk with God. i'm not sure what to do. I really ultimately want to show my school counselor that i was made for more than high school, that i'm ready to move on. So my conclusion is this: 1. Pray continually. pray hard. 2. consider what God has to say. I'm going to do the work during the summer. I'll see how much i struggle. If i get stressed, it's a sign that God wants me to back off. If not, maybe it's in His will for me. it's really all in His hands.
The only other stuff I can do is show my counselor in other ways that I want out. The best way is with godly character. if my teachers don't think i'm intelligent, they know that i have the right attitude. And to pursue such a lofty goal requires such a frame of mind. I think it's 99% attitude and 1% intelligence. I feel I got the 99%, I just need to show that I got that last 1%.
Pray for me, won't you? i'm wondering if this bout of junioritis is more than just a stupid whim.

UGHH....UUUUUGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
Man, yesterday was like, sooo bad. Started with work...
Woke up at 6, got to work at 7:30 with a semi-empty stomach. Started by setting up for VIP social, which was moving tables, chairs, food. Then set up for parade. First, carried 50 pound cones. they were all dirty; got my uniform dirty. Then drove seatless and seatbeltless with signs in the back of a suburban with a stuck accelerator. Bad idea if it's with your supervisor who's always running behind and rushing. then, i walked 3 blocks north of AVHS to put up sign, came back, walked 3 blocks south of AVHS to put up a sign. Then we circled the parking lot endlessly for about 3 hours giving parade numbers to clowns, cowboys, and some strange Shriner prophet satanic people. hmm, strange. Then I had to tail a car 1.5 miles back to the fair, then walk across the fair. It and the other cars were sweet corvettes, but i think i've got twice the amount of carcinogens in my body because of that *cough*COUGH!!! After, it was break, so i walked around fair to see what was going on. bad idea...all that walking. after was radio, but i had to walk across the fair multiple times to get interviews. it sucked, but i saw martin yan and interviewed joey altman. that was cool. had to walk all the way across the parking lot though.
After work was the A's game. I felt fine until i chewed into some chow mein noodles that were spicy. think it had nuts or something because i started breaking out. i had a bad stomach ache the whole game and started becoming asthmatic, nearly passed out on my stairs. i was fine though after drugging myself and going to sleep.
that's it. more work tomorrow. dvbs then work. only 11 days left in a row...
I GOT A COLD IN THE SUMMER!!! THAT'S LIKE GETTING HEAT EXHAUSTION IN THE DEAD OF WINTER *sniff*sniff
THE STILL
Wow, i'm actually SITTING doing NOTHING, somehow WAITING. Quite a rare occasion during these two weeks...

ONE DOWN, THIRTEEN MORE TO GO (IN A ROW)
Whew, i'm beat. Today started as usual with DVBS. That was fun, i enjoyed it. I had to leave like at 11:15 to get to work. Anticipating traffic, but encountering none, I arrived later at...11:30. So I had basically an hour until work, so I sat in the trailer and shot the breeze. Work was boring. We made phone calls for our supervisor to find a limo. After finding one, we went back to the trailer and shot the breeze more. Then, I went over to pig races, spent 1/2 hour doing an article, then i went back and...shot the breeze a little more. Then it was "lunch" time at 5:00 so being that I had no food or money, I...shot the breeze some more. Then back to work, which was basically counting thousands of tickets, recording them, filling orders, sorting them, etc. Overall, we did our supervisor's dirty work because she slacked off, but that's okay. It's better than sitting in the sun doing nothing. Went by sort've quickly. Tomorrow I start at 7:30 am, ughh...

APERTURE
Man, everything is screwed up. I took a group photo for DVBS yesterday and it ended up being hecka dark. Like half the pics were also dark. Found out today I should have been in a different shooting mode. Sometimes, I'm glad I have a simple 1.3 MP digital camera. Well, the worst part is that half the staff is gone and today we were missing like 10 kids, so I don't think i'll ever get a complete group picture. Especially since Peggy is in the hospital with her new son. Can't leave out the director. dang, i'll just have to settle for less next week or do some mad photoshop editing. I don't think anyone can make this picture look decent though.
Tomorrow, fair starts. Therefore, my in-house hours will be approximately 9pm-8am. what a week this is going to be

PRAISE GOD!!!
I just received news via rushing out of the house that a person at our church whom we love so dearly is going to have her baby today! It's a boy, so Pastor Sen will have a grandson!
I need to bring food to their house (i think they're watching over Sarah) so I got to run!
HELLO??? YOU SEE ME??? I'M AN EAGLE!!!
Today, I started undertaking a project that I meant to start last week. When you earn the rank of Eagle, it's not a small thing. In fact, 1% of scouts, which compose about 5% of the world make it. So what you do to tell everyone is to send them requests for certificates and stuff. I'm sending a letter to the President, Steven Spielberg, Bill Gates, Billy Graham, and about 30 significant others. Believe it or not, they send you stuff back. Maybe they personally won't know that Scott Jung from CA got eagle, but it looks neat. So pray that they will all be open and willing to send me a letter and/or certificate.
As Forrest Gump would say, "that's all i got ta say about that!"

HEY KIDS!
I started DVBS yesterday. I'm in charge of leading songs and opening and closing sessions. It's harder than I thought. Doesn't get much harder if the songs you're supposed to use for the program are harder to sing than rap. Oh well, I guess that means you teach them good ol' songs. You know, He's Got the Whole World, Jesus Loves Me, This Little Light of Mine, and so on.
It's a great experience, and it sort've revealed to me how I work with kids. Brings back lots of memories, from when I first attended VBS at SLzJCC, then at BACBC, then at TCBC. It's amazing how far I've gone and how the VBS program has stayed relatively the same.
Well, starting Friday is Fair, so I won't be able to blog as frequently. Friday through next Friday, I'll be going to DVBS from about 9-11:45, then commuting to Pleasanton for fair, where i'll be working until 8 pm. It's going to be crazy but fun, sort've. Throw in a 7:45 start time shift on Saturday followed by a baseball game at 5, then add on a grad banquet the following Saturday at about 6:30, right after I get off fair. Man, my vacation following will be well earned. So will my $625 paycheck.
I don't really have a big philisophical thought today except this encouragement: Make this summer a time to grow closer in your relationship with the Lord. Try new things. I know I'm trying a lot of new stuff, getting involved with DVBS, SOS, CBM Camp in August. Even though vacation may give you another excuse to slack off, sleep in on Sundays and stuff, don't give in. It's one of Satan's tricks. Let God open your mind and receive His blessings. It's actually easier since you're not thinking about academic stuff (Unless you're like me and taking 3 AP courses plus SAT prep, but that's another story).

LEAVING A LEGACY
Philisophical note:
With studying for SAT I's, SAT II's, ACT's, AP's, ABC's, and 123's, I hear very often how important and crucial this stuff is. This influences which college you go to, which influences which career you go into, which influences your standard of living, which basically influences your entire life.
Much like tests in high school years, what you do today influences your influence in your future, and what you will leave when you pass away. What kind of a legacy do you want to leave? I've been very conscientious these days on how my actions will influence my future. Yes, in one area, is academics. But even more important is how I act around others. If I had been the snob I was a few years ago in my adulthood, I probably wouldn't have a lot of friends. That's why I decided to take a risk and step out of my comfort zone. Another very important area is spiritually. Is what I am doing today pleasing God. Is my walk one of a baby or of a man? It's something I didn't really think about until a few months ago.
To add on to the occasion, parents one of the greatest influences in your life. What they do determines how alike you and they will be mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Father's Day is tomorrow...wait...it's today actually. It's a day to honor what your dad has done in your life. What kind of an influence is he? There is a thought provoking quote my pastor mentioned:
"The boy is the father of the man."
It's very true that just as what your father does influences you, you influence you when you become an adult. Think about it.
And now, the boring part: news
Today, i went to fair orientation and stuff. fair is going to be long working 7 1/2 hours a day 14 days straight working at events setting up and cleaning up. At least i'm not sitting/standing around all day. I get to move around. I miss a bunch of stuff though, oh well. I just found out that someone in my youth group is singing on June 28 at the fair. GO NICOLE!!! everyone go visit me and then see her sing. and while your at it, go the next day and see rebecca st. james. and my "friend" Chris is going off early today to Browsea JLT. Me and my other "friend" tim both laugh at him. we both hated it. haha*cough*cough. in other news, i learned never to procrastinate, whether it is school or not. it has nothing to do with my emotions, it just that my mom gets very angry...
UPDATE: Ha, i just forgot since it's sunday now: happy dad's day to all dads, and happy birthday kristen! (it doesn't stink too bad to share a special day with your dad now, doesn't it?)

UBERGEEK IS MY NAME
Yeah, the title has nothing to do with this post, but it sounds cool. Yesterday, I finally watched Billy Madison. I actually found a decent copy of KaZaa yesterday (*smack! shame on you. bad bad!). Some parts were funny, some parts were stupid, and some parts were just plain wrong! I dunno, I still think Adam Sandler's best movie was Big Daddy. I heard Anger Management was pretty funny, but I have yet to see it. At least I can laugh along with my "friends" (now in quotes, see last month's blog) about how funny a certain part was, but of course that's 78 days away. dang.
today, i took my first drive in the city. wait...change that...the first mile was on Silver Ave. in east frisco. The next 3 miles was 101 south. okay, so change that do my first drive down the peninsula. That first mile was enough to scare the crap out of me though. NO, I wasn't lucky enough to drive by myself! geez. neways, it went okay, not much to see, glanced at the new SFO shuttles running. oh yeah, this was the first bridge i drove on. san mateo, but oh well. lots of traffic right off the bridge in hayward, but i got through it.
okay, i'm feeling lazy right now. I can either
a. watch the rest of Ice Age i downloaded (*SMACK*SMACK!)
b. do DVBS stuff
c. study SAT books
d. surf the net aimlessly for the next 2 hours
e. watch techtv
i should do B, but i want to do A, but i'll end up doing E...what a hard life...

IT'S OVER
School's out...thought you'd want to know. Ended on a bad note. Algebra final was hard. Had to totally guess on like 4 of them. Half the stuff I didn't remember how to do. Oh well, 6 out of 7 ain't bad...

5 DOWN, 1 TO GO
Briefly: Chem was okay, easier than I thought. Lit. wasn't too hard, just long, and heck, it was an essay. Bible was so easy, I bombed through the first 10 pages in about 5 minutes. Algebra is going to suck. People say it's easy. I can't remember all these formulas and stuff.
Philisophical note: Since I've entered into high school, I've noticed the students who have attended high school for four years (traditionally known as Seniors or Eniors at Valley) go through a disease in nine-month stages called Senioritis. Typically, the symptoms are bashing underclassmen, slacking off, leaving little cups of water all over the hallway (or something of that sort), and going around saying "WE'RE LEAVING, YOU'RE NOT!" Though this is typical, I am finding many of my friends and I catching a lower form of this disease, known as Freshmanitis, Sophomoritis, and Junioritis. It usually happens to me when the following occur:
a. School starts
b. School ends
c. Someone I know gets an academic privilage that I can't get because my school sucks.
I've recently recovered from a bout of sophomoritis. It think it's because I'm doing slideshows for my church's grad. banquet. It causes me to want to get out of here. I try very hard, though, to tackle sophomoritis. I've been quite successful. Usually, I overcome it when I think of the following statements:
a. Your school sucks, you can't do anything about it.
b. Your counselor sucks, she wants you to endure every moment of the 30 periods of high school and scoffs at the challenge you wish to take
c. You haven't met the requirements of the UC a-g list
d. Your goal is very noteworthy; pray without ceasing about it next year, and maybe God will open a door. Oh yes, and tell all your other friends with sophomoritis to do the same. Maybe gently petition important people too.
I most commonly use plan d. I do acknowledge it's out of my hands, so I give it all to God. Although only one of my so-called friends comes close to the pain I feel, it's tough. But God works in mysterious ways. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. -James 5:16. I guess i'll concentrate on TODAY and let God work out TOMORROW.

2 DOWN, 4 TO GO
Hey, what do ya know? I'm much like Prof. X. Very interesting...
Well, I should be studying for chem, but I'm not so here's the highlights of finals 7 and 6:
World Hist. was long. Easy, but long. 94 mult-choice, 3 essay parts. Nothing strange or unexpected about it, just glad it was over.
Japanese was also long. 86 questions. Some were hard, most weren't too bad. Had to do a speaking test though. Wasn't too hard, I could almost convince our TA (a jap. exchange student) to tell me the question in english! hehe.
Tomorrow's the hardest day. Got chem final first, which includes so many math problems i don't see how i can remember them all. it's long too, like 120 questions. almost as long as our 5-page "quizzes". Lit I hear is not hard but long. Basically, 2 short stories, one with questions in mini-essay, and one with a long 4 paragraph essay. Can't study much for it, i guess i'll spend most of my allotted cramming time for this final praying.
Upon observing recent blogs, one of my old friends posts a daily philisophical tidbit. i'll consider it. my other friend's is all news. i'll probably replace my fat white space on the left with a blogroller.
1/2 days, gotta love 'em!!!

DEAD WEEK
Wow, it's been a while since I last posted. Too busy to do much, too lazy to do much. Since Tuesday, i've been studying and slacking. That's it. This summer is going to be soooo busy, like every summer. Right after school lets out...
- DVBS for 2 weeks
- fair for 3 weeks, one of those weeks is the second week of DVBS, so i'll be commuting from San Ramon to Pleasanton in 1/2 hour and being gone from home from 7:00 am-8:00 pm
- Vacation to east coast
- CBM camp
- Vacation to Hawaii
- School...again
Got so much on my mind and my agenda (also on my mind)...finals, then DVBS slideshow, then Grad. banquet slideshow, then Huck Finn for AP Eng., then stuff for AP USH, then SOS pres, then Tech Club treasurer, then maybe Troop ASPL, then DVBS, aiyah!
Oh yes, as soon as I can find a long enough RCA cord, i'll put a screenshot of our screensavers appearance.
>>UPDATE: I got a pic of our Screen Savers appearance up. Not very clear though. It was a screenshot of one of the clips from that episode that was posted on TechTV.com. Not the best view of me either. Once I get an RCA cable, i'll get a better pic up. But it really is me! FYI for non-geeks: The circle and line and IT'S ME did not appear on everyone's TV screen...

TODAY ON SCREEN SAVERS
Wow, today was like the greatest day of my life...almost. it started with school like usual, school wasn't that great. too much chem homework, too many tests, freaking out about next year. i ended school at 12:33 and went down to a black tie limo bus, which starts my adventure.
We go to In N Out in Pleas, but it's too crowded so me and 2 others went across the street to Taco Bell. After, we went to Gateway Country, then to the place all geeks in a tech club would go, CompUSA. I saw my old SM there, said hi then looked in the PDA section for bit and met Mr. R in the digital cameras. That wasn't it.
We spent about an hour on the bus to SF. We arrive at the studio 10 min. early @ 2:50, a small glass door with the TechTV logo and a red frame. that's it. it's right next to the Muni maintenance center. We finally get in then talk about the show, history, and other geek stuff. I get my first freebie, a red TechTV pen!!! Then, we got to tour Studio A which produces Call for Help, TechLive, XPlay. Awesome. so small, so neat. wow. we go back into the conference room and talk more geek stuff until 3:45. Then into studio B...
Studio B is cool, it's still small. Screen Savers is filmed there, so we take our seats. Finally, we see Patrick, Kevin, Yoshi, Sarah, and Jessica come out. Way cool. They do promos for tomorrow's show first. They got this fat camera on a crane to do the fancy movements and stuff. So then we applaud and the show starts.
The show was pretty boring today. this asian named RD Wong or something talks about his book. To put it simply, it was published as a result of inspiring emails. big deal, i get tons of that. another lady named MD (what's with the 2 letter names?) shows how to animate with flash. she was cool, the reason why a bit later.
so they do about 5 segments and stuff. we get to see how everything works. finally after the show ends....WE GET MORE FREEBIES!!!! Everyone got a free Intel PC camera. SWEEEEEETTTTTTT!!!! Not only that, Mr. R talked with the Flash lady and she's giving all of us free Flash books!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!! so i get to see my fav. channel, see the "celebs", and walk away with 3 freebies! I'm definitely returning ASAP! What a great day!

Wow, strange day today, both good and bad. First, I find out Leo Laporte will not be hosting tomorrow's Screen Savers program because he's in NY with ABC and Regis and Kelly. hmmph. oh well, as long as we have the more arrogant Patrick Norton.
On the subject of computers, my tech club advisor gave me a Asus motherboard with a Pentium I for free! Don't know what the heck i'm going to do with it. Right now i'm just looking at it and admiring how shiny it is.Too bad it's not fast. My friend Alex says he's going to donate an ATX case for my cause. What a nice friend.
